Keylo the Husky: How Fish Skin Helped Heal One of Nature’s Cuddliest Companions

After having her front wrist rolled over by a car tire, Keylo and her family embarked on a healing journey with the help of Kerecis.

After having her front wrist rolled over by a car tire, Keylo had significant damage to the ligaments in her wrist and a large, open wound. She was rushed to Dr. Andrea Clark at Fetch Specialty and Emergency Veterinary Clinics in Clearwater, FL.

Dr. Clark swiftly repaired Keylo’s ligaments to stabilize her wrist, but was still left with a large wound to treat. Aiming to expedite wound healing, she reached for Kerecis fish-skin grafts to cover the wound area, confident in our success rate and our grafts’ ability to rapidly facilitate granulation tissue formation. Knowing this was her first time utilizing our grafts in combination with an orthopedic implant, she called our team for customized support and ended up using Kerecis VET Solid to facilitate wound closure.

At Keylo’s first follow-up, Dr. Clark reflects that she was “super impressed with how quickly granulation tissue formed, not just in the wound bed, but also over the implants.”

Since the surgery, Keylo has excelled in her rehabilitation program. Progressively returning to her daily pup activities, which include long walks on the beach and games in the park, Keylo is back to her old playful and talkative self!
