Join us in Nashville at a one-evening, one-day event that invites you to immerse yourself in learning, collaboration and innovation. The Surgical Wound Care Summit was created specifically for Advanced Practice Providers practicing trauma, burn, plastics or general surgery. The program focuses on evidence-based management of acute, traumatic, and operative wounds, emphasizing decision-making across the entire episode of care—from the operating room through recovery and transition.
This program offers an exciting opportunity to learn and collaborate with peers while engaging in meaningful discussions on best practices and the latest advancements in advanced wound healing. Together we can work towards enhancing patient care and improving outcomes.
Objectives:
PLEASE NOTE: Attendance at the Surgical APP Wound Care Summit is for practicing healthcare professionals in the Operating Room and HOPD settings with the focus on wound healing in Burn and Trauma.
Attendees are expected to actively participate in the workshop and discussions and provide feedback by responding to follow-up questions.
Government employees are not eligible to participate in this event.
The Surgical APP Wound Care Summit is a one-evening, one-day event. The Summit starts on Friday evening with an educational dinner, followed by the summiton Saturday. Flights to and from the summit will be booked by Kerecis along with lodging for Friday night. Meals for the duration of the workshop will be covered for participating clinicians and medical professionals.


Carrie McGroarty, PA-C, MPAS, EdD is a certified physician assistant working clinically in the WakeMed Physician Practices Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery division. She is the medical director of the WakeMed Cary Wound Center and the WakeMed Campbell PA Program clinical director. She completed her physician assistant training in 2003 at James Madison University, a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2014 and Doctor of Education in Leadership and Organizational Learning at Vanderbilt University in May 2025.
She started her clinical practice in general surgery and trauma in the Sentara Healthcare System in Virginia Beach. She has worked in cardiothoracic surgery at Duke Health and spent 15 years working with general surgery and trauma in the WakeMed Healthcare System prior to joining the plastic surgery team in August 2022.
Her current clinical responsibilities include inpatient management, operative first assist and outpatient wound clinic. She has teaching affiliations with Campbell University and Duke University Physician Assistant Programs.
Dr. Matthew R. Endara is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon practicing at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee where in addition to serving a diverse range of reconstructive needs for the hospital and community where he resides, he serves medical director for the Maury Regional Wound Center. In addition, he is a founding member and oversees the Maury Regional Limb Salvage Program while serving on multiple boards and committees of the hospital system.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Neurosciences from Northwestern University and his medical degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Endara completed the integrated plastic surgery residency at Georgetown University, working under world renowned faculty known for their work in wound care, limb salvage, microsurgical and prosthetic based breast reconstruction, peripheral nerve and hand surgery. During his residency he received formal recognition for outstanding performance in wound care and limb reconstruction while being named administrative chief resident of his class.
His clinical interests include breast reconstruction, limb salvage, abdominal wall reconstruction, body contouring, and facial rejuvenation. He has authored or co-authored more than twenty peer reviewed publications and book chapters, and his research on wound healing and diabetes has drawn national media attention. His innovative work on the benefits of fat grafting in radiated patients has contributed to changing practices in the field. He regularly presents at national meetings and has served as a key opinion leader for a variety of tissue based medical device companies and for the past five years has focused his work with Kerecis. Dr. Endara’s dynamic and engaging speaking style has earned him recognition from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, including an award for his presentation on incisional wound vacuum therapy. He remains committed to advancing reconstructive surgery, wound care and patient education through research, mentorship and international collaboration.
The Surgical APP Wound Care Summit is a one-evening, one-day event. For attending healthcare professionals, Kerecis covers one night’s lodging and meals for the duration of the workshop in return for full participation in the summit and the follow-up surveys. Kerecis does not pay or reimburse travel arrangements for family members, including spouses. Government employees are not eligible to participate in this event without prior written approval.
Attire for the event is business casual.
All travel arrangements will be booked by Kerecis. Self-made travel arrangements will not be reimbursed.
